Who is building, studying and governing artificial intelligence? Our research tracks 7,451 researchers, builders, lab leaders and public voices across 1,656 organizations, pairing each person’s biography and dated career timeline from 64,249 cited public sources with publication records from OpenAlex.

Superintelligence names the machine intelligence that these people work to build, study or warn about, and it also refers to the people themselves, whose combined work moves the field forward. Following where artificial intelligence is heading starts with knowing who is doing the work, where they trained and how they move between universities, companies and labs: we estimate 39,883 dated work positions and 24,827 career moves across the field.
