James M. Keller
Also known as Jim Keller
Keller works in computational intelligence, a field built on fuzzy systems, neural networks and evolutionary computation. He earned a PhD in mathematics in 1978, and he served as vice president for publications of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society from 2005 to 2008 and again from 2017 to 2020. He was the society's president in 2022 and 2023. The IEEE Frank Rosenblatt Technical Field Award, which he won in 2021, honors outstanding contributions to biologically and linguistically motivated computational paradigms. As of October 2026, he is a Curators' Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of Missouri.
