Haocheng Wang

Also known as 王浩丞

Haocheng Wang is a mathematician and AI researcher whose work applies language models to formal theorem proving and algorithm verification. He earned an honours degree in mathematics and applied mathematics at Xiamen University in 2025. As a DeepSeek AI student researcher, he coauthored DeepSeek-Prover-V1.5 and appeared in the DeepSeek-V3 author list; at ByteDance Seed, he built a proof-scoring pipeline and led DeltaProver data work. He is a PhD student at HKUST(GZ) and a visiting PhD student at ETH Zürich; in 2026, he co-organized the AI4Math Workshop at ICML as program chair.

    He studies mathematics and applied mathematics at Xiamen University from September 2020 to June 2025 and completes an honours bachelor's degree. His thesis formalizes auction theory.

    He joins DeepSeek AI as a student researcher in June 2024 and coauthors DeepSeek-Prover-V1.5. The Lean 4 theorem-proving model uses reinforcement learning with proof-assistant feedback.

    Researcher at ByteDance Seed

    He joins ByteDance Seed as a student researcher in January 2025. He builds a scoring and self-refinement pipeline for natural-language proofs, proposes a sketch-based reasoning method, and leads data initiatives for DeltaProver.

  5. April 2025

    DeepSeek-Prover-V2 and ProverBench

    In April 2025, he coauthors the DeepSeek-Prover-V2 paper on reinforcement learning with subgoal decomposition for formal theorem proving. He develops ProverBench, a collection of 325 formalized problems for evaluation.

    Delta Prover for formal math

    In July 2025, he coauthors a paper that presents Delta Prover, a Lean 4 agent that uses reflective decomposition and iterative proof repair to construct formal proofs.

  7. Since 2025

    Visiting PhD at ETH Zürich

    He joins Prof. Rasmus Kyng's group at ETH Zürich as a post graduate student in July 2025. In August 2025, he begins a visiting PhD at D-INFK, working with Prof. Kyng and Dr. Sorrachai Yingchareonthawornchai on algorithm verification and formal reasoning.

    PhD at HKUST(GZ) and program chair

    In January 2026, he begins a direct PhD in Data Science and Analytics at HKUST(GZ), supervised by Zhijiang Guo. He is a visiting PhD student at ETH Zürich and serves as program chair for the 3rd AI4Math Workshop at ICML, which takes place in July 2026.
