Heng Yang
Heng Yang develops optimization methods for robotics. His work seeks algorithms that combine useful practical performance with mathematical guarantees. Yang earned a robotics PhD at MIT under Luca Carlone. It identifies him as a Harvard assistant professor leading the Computational Robotics Group and a part-time NVIDIA research scientist. Yang and Haoyu Han coauthored Building Rome with Convex Optimization. They combined learned depth with scaled bundle adjustment and semidefinite optimization in a structure-from-motion pipeline.
