Boi V. Faltings
Boi V. Faltings connects structured AI reasoning with constraints, coordination, and practical systems. He founded EPFL’s Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in 1987. The laboratory developed shared research in qualitative reasoning, constraint satisfaction, and distributed problem-solving. Faltings and Christian Frei founded Iconomic Systems in 1997 to commercialize network-routing research. The company relaunched in 1999 for travel-commerce software and was sold in 2001. These are separate company events. Several researchers contributed to the underlying research.
Timeline
-
1987
The AI laboratory at EPFL
Boi Faltings founded EPFL’s Artificial Intelligence Laboratory in 1987. Its early work studied model-based and qualitative reasoning.
