Also known as 松山隆司
Takashi Matsuyama worked on image understanding and 3D video. With Makoto Nagao, he published edge-preserving smoothing in 1979, and in 1985 he and Vincent Hwang published SIGMA, a framework for image understanding. In 1995 Toshikazu Wada, Hiroyuki Ukida, and he received the Marr Prize for shape from shading on an unfolded book. The International Association for Pattern Recognition named him a fellow in 1996 for contributions to image understanding and for service to IAPR. In 2012 he, Shohei Nobuhara, Takeshi Takai, and Tony Tung published 3D Video and Its Applications with Springer, and in 2015 his affiliation was IST in the Graduate School of Informatics at Kyoto University.
