Leandro dos Santos Coelho
Leandro dos Santos Coelho is a professor of electrical engineering at the Federal University of Paraná whose research covers metaheuristic optimization and ensemble-learning forecasting. After a doctorate in electrical engineering at the Federal University of Santa Catarina in 2000, he did postdoctoral research at the Università degli Studi di Padova from January 2018 to January 2019. In 2016, he co-authored the Multi-objective Grey Wolf Optimizer paper, and in July 2018 he and Juliano Pierezan presented the Coyote Optimization Algorithm in Rio de Janeiro. His 2020 co-authored studies applied ensemble learning to COVID-19 cases in Brazil, Amazon rainforest fires and agribusiness time series, and in 2024 he was among the Federal University of Paraná professors in the Elsevier and Stanford University ranking of the world's top 2% scientists.
