Hoang Nguyen
Also known as Hoang Huy Nguyen
Hoang Nguyen is a Georgia Tech doctoral candidate in algorithms, combinatorics, and optimization whose research spans applied probability and AI reasoning. He earned a computational-sciences degree at Minerva University in 2021 and coauthored a 2023 JMLR paper on unbalanced optimal transport. At Google DeepMind, he contributed to AlphaGeometry 2 and the natural-language reasoning work around the 2024 IMO, where AlphaProof and AlphaGeometry 2 reached silver-medal level. He coauthored IMO-Bench and joined the 2025 DeepMind team whose Gemini Deep Think system reached gold-medal level. He won second prize at the ACM SIGMETRICS 2025 Student Research Contest and received an IBM research fellowship in 2026; he is on the 2026–2027 academic job market.
