Xiaoyi Jiang
Xiaoyi Jiang is a computer scientist whose work connects computer vision and pattern recognition with biomedical image analysis. He studied at Peking University and Bern, worked in research posts in Bern, and joined Münster as a professor in 2002 after an associate professor role in Berlin. His work includes range-image analysis, a 2003 method for detecting retinal vessels, and systems for tracking fruit-fly larvae and imaging freely moving mice. IAPR named him a Fellow in 2006, and he chaired its graph-based representations committee from 2012 to 2016. As of October 2026, he leads the Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis group at the University of Münster and coauthors work on self-supervised depth estimation for endoscopic scenes.
