Ujjwal Maulik

Ujjwal Maulik is a computer scientist whose work applies pattern recognition and machine learning to image analysis and computational biology. They earned an M.Tech. in 1992 and a Ph.D. in engineering in 1997, both at Jadavpur University. They held an Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship during 2010 to 2012, working with the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg, and the International Association for Pattern Recognition named them a fellow in 2018. In 2024–2025, a Fulbright-Nehru fellowship took them to Stanford University, where they studied NicE-seq chromatin accessibility with artificial intelligence methods. As of October 2026, they remain a professor in the computer science department at Jadavpur University in Kolkata.
