Guangming Shi

Guangming Shi is a Xidian University professor whose research connects depth sensing with semantic communication. He earned bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees at Xidian in 1985, 1988 and 2002, then served as vice director of its Scientific Research Department in 2017. He coauthored a 2018 paper on frequency-division-multiplexed depth sensing and a 2021 IEEE Communications Magazine paper on semantic-aware networking. He became an IEEE Fellow in 2021 and coauthored a scalable semantic-coding paper in 2025. As of October 2026, he is a professor at Xidian, edits the Journal of Information and Intelligence, and is affiliated with Peng Cheng Laboratory's School of Artificial Intelligence.
