Prabir Bhattacharya
Prabir Bhattacharya is a computer scientist whose career centers on image understanding, image processing, and computer vision. He completed his group-theory doctorate at Oxford in 1979, after undergraduate study at Delhi, and served at Nebraska–Lincoln and Panasonic from 1986 to 2004. The IAPR named him a Fellow in 2002; by 2008, he and doctoral student Abu Sayeed Sohail had received a best-paper award for their work on facial-expression analysis. The University of Cincinnati named him an AAAS Fellow in 2012 for contributions to computer and information sciences, including image understanding and computer network security. As of October 2026, he is an affiliate professor at Concordia, with research areas in computer security, data science, medical imaging, and applied game theory.
