Tamara Kolda
Also known as Tamara G. Kolda, Tammy Kolda
Tamara Kolda is an applied mathematician known for tensor decompositions and for the Tensor Toolbox for MATLAB, which she co-developed in 2004. She earned a PhD in applied mathematics at the University of Maryland in 1997 and then held a two-year Householder Postdoctoral Fellowship at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. She worked at Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, California, from 1999 to 2021, and in 2003 she received the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers. In 2020 she was elected to the National Academy of Engineering and became founding editor-in-chief of the SIAM Journal on Mathematics of Data Science. She is an independent mathematical consultant under her company MathSci.ai, and she sits on the board of the First Proof Foundation, which is dedicated to understanding the capabilities of AI systems on problems that come up in math research.
