Leon van der Torre
Also known as Leendert van der Torre
As of October 2026, Leon van der Torre is a professor of computer science at the University of Luxembourg, where his research covers deontic logic and agent architectures. In 2000 he published input/output logics with David Makinson, and he developed the BOID agent architecture with colleagues from the Vrije Universiteit. He earned his PhD from Erasmus University Rotterdam in 1997 and became a full professor at the University of Luxembourg in January 2006. He became an ECCAI Fellow in 2015, and in March 2016 he became head of the Computer Science and Communication Research Unit.

He is a professor of computer science at the University of Luxembourg, affiliated with the Lab for Intelligent and Adaptive Systems (ILIAS). His research interests include deontic logic and agreement technologies. Since March 2016, he is also head of the Computer Science and Communication Research Unit.
