Junchi Yan
Junchi Yan is an AI researcher who applies machine learning to graph and combinatorial optimization. He earned an M.S. and a Ph.D. at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He spent seven years at IBM Research and founded SJTU-ReThinkLab in 2018. The lab studies combinatorial optimization and quantum computing, including a 2023 quantum neural network for the Quadratic Assignment Problem. IAPR named him a Fellow in 2024, and he received the IEEE-CIS Outstanding Early Career Award in 2025; as of October 2026, he is a tenured professor at SJTU and Program Co-Chair of ACM Multimedia 2026.
