Researcher

Erin Bransom

Erin Bransom is an AI researcher whose work spans model evaluation, tools for scientific reading and synthesis, and open vision-language models. In 2023, she coauthored LongEval, an EACL Outstanding Paper on long-summary evaluation, and a paper on the Semantic Reader project for interactive research-paper reading. Her 2024 papers explored researcher-specific scientific jargon, LLM-supported literature reviews, and agents that run tasks in research repositories. The 2025 Molmo and PixMo paper introduced an open vision-language model family and PixMo data, and received a CVPR Best Paper Honorable Mention. She is part of Ai2's team as of October 2026.

Timeline

  1. 2023

    LongEval and an EACL award

In 2023, she coauthors LongEval, guidelines for evaluating the faithfulness of long-form summaries. It receives an EACL Outstanding Paper award.

  2. 2023

    Semantic Reader for research papers

In 2023, she coauthors a paper describing the Semantic Reader Project, a collaboration to create dynamic reading interfaces for research papers.

  3. 2024

    Personalized jargon identification

In 2024, she coauthors a study of personalized jargon identification. The work uses more than 10,000 term-familiarity annotations from 11 computer-science researchers, drawn from 100 paper abstracts.

  4. 2024

    CHIME for literature reviews

In 2024, she coauthors CHIME, a study of LLM-generated hierarchies for organizing scientific studies in literature reviews. Its dataset contains 2,174 LLM-generated hierarchies across 472 topics.

  5. 2024

    SUPER agent benchmark

In 2024, she coauthors SUPER, a benchmark for testing whether LLMs can set up and run tasks from research repositories. The benchmark includes 45 end-to-end problems with annotated expert solutions.

  6. 2025

    Molmo and PixMo

In 2025, she coauthors Molmo and PixMo, an open family of vision-language models with PixMo datasets for image captions, image question answering, and 2D pointing. The paper receives a CVPR Best Paper Honorable Mention.

  7. As of October 2026

    Ai2 team member

As of October 2026, she is part of Ai2's team.
