Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan

Also known as طحنون بن زايد آل نهيان, Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan

Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan combines national security work with AI investment in the UAE. As of October 2026, he is Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and chairs the board of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. He became the UAE's national security adviser in 2016. In March 2024 he was named chairman of MGX's board, a technology investment company created by the AI council he chairs. TIME named him a shaper in September 2024 and placed him on its 2025 list of the 100 most influential figures in artificial intelligence.

    In November 2025 he chairs the year-end meeting of G42's board, which reviews the group's progress and strategic direction for 2026 and beyond.

    Deputy Ruler and ADIA chair

    He is Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and chairs the board of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority. In May 2026 he chairs the authority's first board meeting of 2026.
