Victor Hugo C. de Albuquerque

Also known as Victor Hugo Costa de Albuquerque

Victor Hugo C. de Albuquerque is a Brazilian researcher who applies deep learning and pattern recognition to medical images, biological signals and intelligent transportation. He completed a doctorate in mechanical engineering at the Federal University of Paraíba in 2010, after a master's in teleinformatics engineering at the Federal University of Ceará in 2007, and then served as an assistant professor of applied informatics at the University of Fortaleza until 2021. His coauthored papers include a 2018 study of Google Colaboratory for accelerating deep learning, a 2020 transfer-learning approach to pneumonia detection in chest X-ray images, and autonomous-driving papers in 2020 and 2022. In 2022, a Research.com ranking placed him fourth among Brazilian computer scientists, and a 2024 ranking placed him fifth. He is a professor and senior researcher in teleinformatics engineering at the Federal University of Ceará, which he joined in 2021, and leads its Biomedical Data Analytics Research Group.
