Justus Thies
Justus Thies works where computer vision, graphics and machine learning meet. His research includes motion capture, human reconstruction and image or video synthesis. Thies joined the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems as a research-group leader in January 2021. His program combined graphics, vision and machine learning. He planned to start as a full professor at TU Darmstadt in September 2023. His 3D Graphics and Vision group is at TU Darmstadt. Thies received an ERC Starting Grant in September 2024 for work on learning digital humans in motion. His group works on markerless capture and AI-based photorealistic synthesis.
