Andreas Herzig

As of October 2026, Andreas Herzig is a CNRS research director at IRIT. He earned a doctorate on automated deduction in modal logic in 1989 and joined CNRS in 1990. At IRIT, he led the LILaC team (2000–2005) and AI Department (2009–2020), then headed the French National Research Agency’s AI and Data Science committee (2022–2025). Since 2015, he has served as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Applied Non-Classical Logics. His 2020 chapter, *Reasoning About Action and Change*, appeared in *A Guided Tour of Artificial Intelligence Research*; his 2025 AAAI paper introduced belief base reformulation; a 2026 lecture explored irrelevance in belief revision.
