Jingdong Wang

Also known as 王井东

Jingdong Wang is a computer vision researcher whose work spans visual recognition and similarity search, including co-authorship of the HRNet paper. He finished a doctorate at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2007 and worked at Microsoft Research Asia until August 2021. The International Association for Pattern Recognition named him a Fellow in 2018, and he was elected an ACM Distinguished Member in November 2018. He joined Baidu in 2021 as chief scientist for computer vision, and he was elected an IEEE Fellow in November 2021. He served as a Program Chair of ICCV 2025.

  1. 2007–2021

    Senior principal researcher at MSRA

    He finishes a doctorate at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2007 and joins Microsoft Research Asia. He works there as a senior principal researcher until August 2021.

  2. 2018

    IAPR Fellow for multimedia search

    The International Association for Pattern Recognition names him a Fellow in 2018 for contributions to multimedia search, similarity search, attention analysis, and video surveillance.

  3. 2018

    ACM Distinguished Member

    He is elected an ACM Distinguished Member in November 2018. In September 2018 he gives a keynote talk on approximate nearest neighbor search at JD.com.

  4. 2019

    HRNet for visual recognition

    Deep High-Resolution Representation Learning for Visual Recognition, written with 11 other authors, is a longer version of the HRNet paper published in CVPR 2019.

  5. 2021

    Chief scientist for computer vision

    He leaves Microsoft Research Asia in August 2021 and joins Baidu, where he serves as chief scientist for computer vision.

  6. 2021

    Elected IEEE Fellow

    He is elected an IEEE Fellow in November 2021 for contributions to visual content understanding and retrieval.

    Program Chair of ICCV 2025

    He serves as a Program Chair of ICCV 2025.
