Arvind Jain

Arvind Jain is an engineer and founder whose work spans web search and AI for the workplace. He grew up in a small town in India, studied computer science at IIT Delhi and the University of Washington, and led teams at Google across Search, Maps, and YouTube. In 2014, he co-founded Rubrik and led its research and development. He founded Glean in 2019 to help employees find company information; in September 2024, he introduced advanced prompts for multi-step work in its AI platform. As of October 2026, he is Glean's founder and CEO.

  1. 1996

    Computer science degrees

    He grows up in a small town in India, earns a BTech in computer science from IIT Delhi in 1996, and completes an MS in computer science at the University of Washington.

  2. By 2003

    Early engineering roles

    He starts his career at Microsoft and holds leadership roles at Akamai and Riverbed before joining Google in 2003.

  3. 2003–2014

    Search, Maps, and YouTube

    He joins Google in 2003 and spends over a decade there as a Distinguished Engineer, leading teams in Search, Maps, and YouTube.

  4. 2014

    Co-founding Rubrik

    In 2014, he leaves Google to co-found Rubrik and leads its research and development.

  5. 2019

    Glean's enterprise search

    He founds Glean in 2019 as an AI-powered enterprise search app after seeing employees struggle to find company information.

  6. 2022

    A Distinguished Alumni Award

    IIT Delhi gives him its Distinguished Alumni Award for entrepreneurial excellence in 2022.

  7. September 2024

    Multi-step AI prompts

    In September 2024, he introduces advanced prompts that let users guide Glean through multiple retrieval and reasoning steps in natural language.
