Takayuki Ito
Also known as 伊藤 孝行
Takayuki Ito is a Kyoto University computer scientist whose research uses multi-agent AI for automated negotiation, consensus building, and collective intelligence. He earned engineering degrees at Nagoya Institute of Technology, served as a research fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, and held faculty posts at Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and Nagoya Institute of Technology. His systems include COLLAGREE, a facilitator-mediated platform applied to municipal planning in Nagoya City, and D-Agree, an agent-facilitated discussion platform used in a 2024 study on interethnic dialogue in Afghanistan. With David Parkes, he won the 2006 AAMAS Best Paper Award, followed by the IJCAI 2019 Best Video Award for D-Agree and the 2023 Gregory Kersten GDN Journal Best Paper Award. Since October 2020, he is a professor and principal investigator in Kyoto University's Department of Social Informatics, and since October 2023 he is an associate member of the Science Council of Japan.
