Andrew Houck

Also known as Andrew A. Houck

Andrew Houck is a Princeton physicist and engineer who helped develop the transmon, a superconducting qubit. After a Harvard physics doctorate, he returned to Princeton as an assistant professor in 2008. At Princeton he co-directs the Princeton Quantum Initiative, which the university established in 2019. He is dean of Princeton's School of Engineering and Applied Science, a post he took up in August 2025. The school has expanded in fields such as artificial intelligence and quantum engineering.
