Luigia Carlucci Aiello
Luigia Carlucci Aiello shared work on proving program correctness in LCF in 1974, machine checking of informal proofs in 1976 and the Pisa Proof Checker in 1977. Aiello moved to Sapienza’s engineering faculty in 1982 and became an AI professor in 1991. She led the department’s AI group and researched knowledge representation and advanced systems. Aiello became an AAAI Fellow in 1995 and chaired IJCAI in 1999. She also coauthored work on tableaux for default logic in 1996 and on definability and commonsense reasoning in 1997.
