Xiaofei He

As of October 2026, Xiaofei He is a full professor of computer science at Zhejiang University. With Partha Niyogi he introduced Locality Preserving Projections in 2003, linear maps that preserve the neighborhood structure of a data set, and the 2005 University of Chicago doctoral thesis carried that title. Face Recognition Using Laplacianfaces, published in March 2005 with Shuicheng Yan, Yuxiao Hu, Partha Niyogi, and Hong-Jiang Zhang, mapped face images onto a face manifold. A computer science bachelor's degree from Zhejiang University in 2000 was followed by a research scientist post at Yahoo Research Labs from 2005 to 2007, a full professorship at Zhejiang University in 2007, and a 2014 fellowship of the International Association for Pattern Recognition for contributions to pattern recognition and manifold learning. In August 2017 he founded FABU, a Hangzhou company developing autonomous driving technology, and in July 2026 he coauthored HeteroCache on compression of the KV cache for long-context LLM inference.
