Holger Rauhut
Holger Rauhut works on the mathematics of machine learning and signal processing. He studied mathematics at TUM, held postdoctoral positions in Vienna and Wroclaw, and was a professor in Bonn from 2008 to 2013. He joined RWTH Aachen as a professor in March 2013. He moved to LMU Munich on 1 August 2023 to lead the chair for Mathematics of Information Processing. His research interests include deep learning, compressive sensing, random matrices, continuous optimization and approximation theory. These fields examine when algorithms can reliably recover or learn useful structure from observations.
