Chao Dong

Also known as 董超, Dong Chao

Chao Dong is a computer-vision researcher whose 2014 SRCNN paper brought deep learning into image super-resolution. He earned an engineering degree at Beijing Institute of Technology, completed an Information Engineering PhD at CUHK, and led SenseTime's Super-Resolution Group from 2016 to 2018. At SIAT, he directs the Multimedia Integrated Technology Research Center and serves as a leading scientist at Shanghai AI Laboratory. His team won international super-resolution challenges, and his coauthored BSRN-S model won NTIRE 2022's model-complexity track. He received AI 2000's computer-vision honorable mention in 2022 and the Shanghai Municipal Technical Invention Award, first prize, in 2023, and he is a full professor at Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology.
