Benjamin Howe
Benjamin Howe is a co-author of FEAST, a robot mealtime-assistance research system. Howe is an independent community researcher, and the work followed a participatory development process. He contributed throughout FEAST’s development. The collaboration began in November 2022 and included regular meetings for design feedback, study planning and piloting. A five-day in-home evaluation took place in January 2025 with two community researchers. They used the system for six meals in three contexts and gave feedback about personalization. These results describe a small evaluation. Howe coauthored FEAST with nine others. The system combines modular feeding, drinking and mouth-wiping hardware, accessible interfaces and language-model-adapted behaviour trees.
