Anthony K. W. Sum

Also known as Anthony Sum, Kwok-Wing Anthony Sum, Anthony Kwok Wing Sum, SUM Kwok Wing Anthony

Anthony Sum is a researcher whose work connects medical image analysis, neural-network methods and robotics. In 2007, he completed a doctorate at the University of Hong Kong with a thesis on partial differential equation methods for medical image processing. Recent work includes acoustic tomography, knee-MRI diagnosis and lightweight deepfake detection, alongside robotics for indoor hydroponics. In 2024 and 2025, students he supervised won Huawei ICT Competition prizes for an AI-powered rodent-management project. As of October 2026, he is a lecturer in computer science and engineering at CUHK.
