Wenbiao Yin
Also known as 尹文彪
Wenbiao Yin is a researcher at Alibaba’s Tongyi Lab, where his work focuses on large language models and agents. He earned a B.E. from South China University of Technology in 2021 and an M.E. from Nanjing University in 2024. In 2025, he coauthored WebWalker, Qwen2.5-1M and Qwen3, and contributed to web-agent research, Qwen3Guard and Tongyi DeepResearch. His work ranged from million-token models and web search agents to multilingual safety systems and a deep research agent whose report reached version 3 in May 2026.
Timeline
-
2021–2024
University degrees
He earns a B.E. from South China University of Technology in 2021 and an M.E. from Nanjing University in 2024.
-
January 2025
Qwen2.5-1M models
In January 2025, he coauthors the Qwen2.5-1M Technical Report, which extends the model family’s context length to 1 million tokens. The series includes the open-source Qwen2.5-7B-Instruct-1M and Qwen2.5-14B-Instruct-1M models, plus the API-accessed Qwen2.5-Turbo.
-
January 2025–July 2025
The WebWalker benchmark
In January 2025, he coauthors WebWalker: Benchmarking LLMs in Web Traversal with Jialong Wu, Yong Jiang, Pengjun Xie, Fei Huang and others at Alibaba’s Tongyi Lab. The paper introduces the WebWalkerQA benchmark and a multi-agent web-navigation framework; the 63rd Annual Meeting of the ACL publishes it in Vienna in July 2025.
-
May 2025
The Qwen3 report
In May 2025, he coauthors the Qwen3 Technical Report. Its model family spans dense and mixture-of-experts architectures from 0.6 to 235 billion parameters, combines thinking and non-thinking modes, supports 119 languages and dialects, and releases all models under Apache 2.0.
-
May 2025–July 2025
WebDancer, WebSailor and WebShaper
In May 2025, he coauthors WebDancer, a ReAct-based web agent built through browsing-data construction, supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement learning. In July 2025, he coauthors WebSailor, which uses the DUPO agentic reinforcement-learning algorithm, and WebShaper, which formalizes information-seeking tasks through set theory.
-
October 2025
Qwen3Guard safety models
In October 2025, he coauthors the Qwen3Guard Technical Report on multilingual safety guardrail models. Its Generative and Stream variants come in 0.6B, 4B and 8B sizes, support up to 119 languages and dialects, and are released under Apache 2.0.
-
October 2025–May 2026
Tongyi DeepResearch
In October 2025, he coauthors the Tongyi DeepResearch Technical Report, which presents an agentic model for long-horizon, deep information-seeking research. The model has 30.5 billion total parameters, with 3.3 billion activated per token. Its version 3 in May 2026 names him among its core contributors.
-
As of October 2026
Researcher at Tongyi Lab
As of October 2026, he is a researcher at Alibaba’s Tongyi Lab, where he focuses on large language models and agents. The WebWalker paper lists his Tongyi Lab affiliation in January 2025, and the May 2026 DeepResearch report names the same affiliation.
