Peter Willett

Also known as Peter K. Willett

Peter Willett is a researcher in statistical signal processing whose primary areas have included detection, machine learning, data fusion and tracking. He earned a BASc from the University of Toronto in 1982 and a PhD from Princeton University in 1986, and then joined the electrical and computer engineering department at the University of Connecticut. He became a professor there in 1998 and an IEEE Fellow in 2003. From 2006 to 2011 he was editor-in-chief of IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, and from 2014 to 2016 he was editor-in-chief of IEEE Signal Processing Letters. In 2023 he joined the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering, and he is now a program manager at DARPA's Strategic Technology Office, a post he took up in August 2024.
