Anna Christmann

Anna Christmann is a German policy expert and entrepreneur who worked on AI policy in Germany and at the United Nations. She studied political science in Heidelberg, completed a doctorate at the University of Bern in 2011, and sat in the Bundestag for the Greens from 2017 to 2025. She served on the Enquete Commission on artificial intelligence from 2018 to 2020, and in 2022 she became the federal government's coordinator for German aerospace. In 2023 the UN Secretary-General appointed her to his advisory body on artificial intelligence. As of October 2026 she is founder and CEO of SAI Europe GmbH, an innovation agency that advises tech start-ups.

  1. 2011

    A political science doctorate in Bern

    She studies political science in Heidelberg and completes a doctorate at the University of Bern in 2011.

  2. 2013–2017

    Work in Baden-Württemberg's science ministry

    From 2013 to 2017 she works at the State Ministry of Science, Research and Arts of Baden-Württemberg, including as chief of staff to minister Theresia Bauer.

  3. 2017–2025

    A Green seat in the Bundestag

    She enters the Bundestag, the German parliament, for the Greens in 2017 and serves until 2025.

  4. 2018–2020

    The Enquete Commission on AI

    From 2018 to 2020 she serves on the German Enquete Commission on artificial intelligence.

  5. 2022–2025

    Aerospace coordinator and start-up commissioner

    From 2022 to 2025 she serves as the federal government's coordinator for German aerospace and as the economy ministry's commissioner for the digital economy and start-ups.

  6. 2023

    A seat on the UN advisory body

    In 2023 the UN Secretary-General appoints her to his advisory body on artificial intelligence.

  7. As of October 2026

    Founder of SAI Europe

    She is a policy expert and entrepreneur. She is founder and CEO of SAI Europe GmbH, an innovation agency that advises tech start-ups.
