Clarisa Sánchez
Also known as Clarisa Sanchez
Clarisa Sánchez studies AI for healthcare. Her career began with retinal image analysis and later expanded to several areas of clinical imaging and prediction. Sánchez earned a Valladolid doctorate in 2008. Her thesis used mixture-model clustering and discriminant analysis to detect retinal lesions for diabetic-retinopathy screening. She worked as a Utrecht postdoctoral researcher from 2008 to 2010, then joined Radboud’s Diagnostic Image Analysis Group. She became an assistant professor in 2013 and an associate professor in 2017. Sánchez moved with her group to Amsterdam’s Informatics Institute in 2020. Her research addresses AI for ophthalmology, oncology and intensive care.
