Michael C. George

Michael C. George is Head of AI, Labor and the Economy at Partnership on AI, a role he holds as of October 2026. He worked as a program officer at the Gates Foundation, then as one of three members of Vice President Kamala Harris's policy team through 2023, and later as a senior adviser to the IRS deputy commissioner. Earlier, he won a Marshall Scholarship in December 2014 and went on to earn master's degrees from the London School of Economics and Oxford. In March 2026, Partnership on AI launched an expert advisory group for its Shaping Economic Futures in the AI Era initiative.

    A Marshall Scholarship for UK study

    In December 2014, he wins a Marshall Scholarship for study in the United Kingdom. He was born in Honolulu and raised in the Philippines before moving to Malaysia for high school. As a Marshall Scholar, he later earns master's degrees from the London School of Economics and Oxford.

    A steering committee for economic futures

    In March 2026, Partnership on AI launches an expert advisory group, its Labor and Economy Steering Committee, for the Shaping Economic Futures in the AI Era initiative.

    A readout on AI scenarios

    In September 2026, PAI publishes a readout of a Washington workshop where 46 leaders map two AI future scenarios.

  5. As of October 2026

    Head of AI, labor and economy

    Before PAI, he works as a senior adviser to the IRS deputy commissioner, focusing on IRS technology modernization. He now heads AI, labor and economy work at Partnership on AI.
