Shlomo Zilberstein
Shlomo Zilberstein earned a computer science degree at the Technion and a doctorate at Berkeley. He is a UMass Amherst professor and director of its Resource-Bounded Reasoning Lab. His work studies complex systems that must act despite uncertainty, missing information and limited computational resources. The research program includes planning and learning under uncertainty, Markov decision processes and meta-level control. Zilberstein received the 2025 ACM/SIGAI Autonomous Agents Research Award. His research also covers multiagent systems, human-centered AI and autonomous vehicles as applications of his reasoning program.
