Jan-Olof Eklundh
Jan-Olof Eklundh built the research group that became KTH’s Computational Vision and Active Perception Laboratory (CVAP). He began at the Swedish National Defence Research Institute in the 1960s and came to KTH in the early 1980s to build CVAP. In 1990, he coauthored a paper with Kjell Brunnstrom and Tony Lindeberg on foveation, active zooming and scale-space methods for junction detection. He joined IVA in 1992, chaired ECCV in 1994, served as KTH dean from 1994 to 1999, and joined the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and became an IAPR Fellow in 2002. Born in 1939, he died in 2021.
