Philip Resnik
Philip Resnik’s computational linguistics program combines statistical modeling with linguistic and domain knowledge. The goal is both useful language technology and a better scientific understanding of human language. The University of Maryland Reddit Suicidality Dataset and the UMD/NORC Mental Health Data Enclave feature in his research program. The 2021 CLPsych shared task used sensitive social media data in the enclave for research on suicide-attempt prediction. Resnik reports returning to computational cognitive neuroscience during his 2018–2019 sabbatical. Later work with Shohini Bhattasali applied computational models to neuroimaging data to study language comprehension.
