Oliviero Stock
Oliviero Stock founded and led the natural language processing group at IRST in 1988. His work included bidirectional chart parsing and the AlFresco system for combining language interaction with visual information. Stock directed IRST from 1997 to 2001. His later cultural heritage work included adaptive mobile guides and joint research with the University of Haifa from 2003 to 2011. Stock directed PerTe from 2012 to 2017. The project examined language-based persuasion, small-group interaction, narrative negotiation and ethical issues in automated influence.
