Shiqin Tong
Tong earned master’s degrees in artificial intelligence at the National University of Singapore and health informatics at Cornell. Her work connects assistive robotics with healthcare AI and memory for embodied agents. Her research includes the RSS 2026 paper Knowing When Not to Help. The team studies active estimation of a person’s reachable workspace to guide robot assistance. Shiqin Tong coauthored FEAST. FEAST supports feeding, drinking and mouth wiping with modular hardware and several interaction methods. Its behavior trees can be adapted with a large language model. The team developed the system with community researchers and studied personalization at home with two care recipients. The system links robot learning and human needs. The FEAST team, including Shiqin Tong, received the RSS 2025 Outstanding Paper Award.
