Willy Susilo

Willy Susilo is a Distinguished Professor at the University of Wollongong, an Australian Laureate Fellow, and director of the Institute of Cybersecurity and Cryptology. His research covers cryptography for cloud computing and AI technologies that defend multi-drone systems. He earned an engineering degree in Surabaya and a Wollongong doctorate in 2001, then taught there from lecturer to professor and led the School of Computing and Information Technology from 2015 to 2025. In 2021 the IEEE named him a Fellow for contributions to cloud computing security, and in 2023 he received an Australian Laureate Fellowship for cryptography and cloud computing. In 2026 he leads a Wollongong team on AI defences for multi-drone systems and holds a Fulbright award.
