Researcher

Edward J. Delp

Also known as Ed Delp, Edward John Delp III

Edward Delp is an electrical engineer whose research spans image and video compression and the forensic analysis of manipulated media. He completed a doctoral thesis at Purdue in 1979 and joined the Purdue faculty in August 1984, after a period at the University of Michigan. In 2022 he led a team developing advanced methods of identifying manipulated media. In February 2026 the International Academy of Artificial Intelligence Sciences elected him a fellow, and Purdue announced his AAAS fellowship in March 2026. As of October 2026, he is the Charles William Harrison Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University, where he directs the Video and Image Processing Laboratory.
