Ulrike Tillmann
Also known as Ulrike Luise Tillmann
Ulrike Tillmann is a professor at Oxford and one of nine initial members of the Advisory Group on Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, which advises AI companies, beginning with OpenAI, on releasing mathematical results. Her training included a BA from Brandeis University in 1985 and a PhD from Stanford University in 1990. The London Mathematical Society gave her the Whitehead Prize in 2004, and the Royal Society elected her a Fellow in 2008. Since 2015 she has been a Fellow of the Alan Turing Institute, and in October 2021 she took up the directorship of the Isaac Newton Institute. In July 2026 she was elected President of the International Mathematical Union for 2027–2030, and Helen Wilson succeeds her at the Newton Institute when her five-year term ends in September 2026.
