Karol Hausman

Karol Hausman is co-founder and chief executive of Physical Intelligence, a company building an AI brain for the physical world. In 2022 he and Brian Ichter wrote about SayCan, a method for grounding language in robotic affordances, and in 2023 he was among the authors of RT-2, a model that translates vision and language into action. He took up an adjunct professorship at Stanford in 2021. The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society gave him its Early Government or Industry Career Award in 2023. He helped found Physical Intelligence in 2024, and the company published π0, its first generalist policy, in October 2024.

  1. October 2021

    A lecture in Warsaw

    In October 2021 he delivers the first academic lecture of the University of Warsaw's 2021/2022 academic year, titled “Unordered thoughts of machines.” He takes up an adjunct professorship at Stanford in 2021.

  2. August 2022

    The SayCan method

    In August 2022 he and Brian Ichter write a Google Research post on SayCan, a method for grounding language in robotic affordances.

  3. July 2023

    The RT-2 robot model

    In July 2023 he is among the authors of RT-2, a model that translates vision and language into action.

    An IEEE early career award

    The IEEE Robotics and Automation Society gives him its Early Government or Industry Career Award in 2023.

  5. 2024

    Founding Physical Intelligence

    He helps found Physical Intelligence in 2024, a startup begun by former Google DeepMind researchers and academics from Stanford and Berkeley.

  6. October 2024

    The π0 generalist robot policy

    The company publishes π0, its first generalist policy for robots, in October 2024, and he is among the authors.
