Nicoletta Calzolari
Nicoletta Calzolari researches computational lexicography and language resources at CNR’s Institute for Computational Linguistics in Pisa. She is also known as Nicoletta Calzolari Zamorani. She coauthored the 2000 SIMPLE framework for harmonized semantic lexicons in twelve European languages. Her shared 2010 LREC Map work collected descriptions of language resources from conference authors. ACL elected her a fellow in 2011 for lexicography and resource creation and dissemination. She also coauthored the 2012 FLaReNet agenda, which organized recommendations for documentation, sharing, interoperability and sustainable resource development.

Making research resources visible
Calzolari and eight coauthors presented the LREC Map of Language Resources and Technologies. It collected resource descriptions from authors submitting papers to LREC 2010 and its workshops. The paper reports information on almost 2,000 resources. Its purpose was to document tools and data used or created in language research, making that work easier to find and understand.

Recognition for computational lexicography
ACL elected Calzolari a fellow in 2011. Its citation recognizes computational lexicography and the creation and dissemination of language resources.

A shared agenda for language resources
With Soria, Bel and six other coauthors, Calzolari published the FLaReNet Strategic Language Resource Agenda. The recommendations came from three years of consultation. They address documentation, interoperability, access, quality, sustainability and infrastructure, among other areas. The paper presents recommendations for researchers and institutions.
