Bhabatosh Chanda
Bhabatosh Chanda researches digital image processing, pattern recognition, computer vision and mathematical morphology; the IAPR named him a Fellow in 2008 for contributions to digital image processing and analysis. He earned a B.E. in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and a PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Calcutta, then held academic and division leadership roles at the Indian Statistical Institute and visited the University of Washington as a scientist. His work includes the 2011 second edition of Digital Image Processing and Analysis and a 2018 fully convolutional neural network for single-image dehazing. As of October 2026, he is a general co-chair of ICVGIP 2026 and is affiliated with the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata.
