Yao Zhao

Also known as 赵耀

Yao Zhao is a professor at Beijing Jiaotong University and director of the Institute of Information Science and the Digital Media Information Processing Research Center. His research includes image compression, digital forensics, and deepfake detection. A bachelor's degree from Fuzhou University in 1989 and a master's degree from Southeast University in 1992 led to a doctorate at the Institute of Information Science in 1996, a professorship in 2001, and postdoctoral research at Delft University of Technology. In 2010 he received funding from the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and in 2016 the Digital Media Information Processing team he leads was selected as a Ministry of Science and Technology Key Area Innovation Team. He was elected a fellow of the China Society of Image and Graphics in December 2021 and an IEEE fellow in November 2022, and a 2024 CVPR paper introduces Neighboring Pixel Relationships for structural artifacts from up-sampling.
