Chiu-yu Tseng

Also known as Tseng Chiu-yu

Chiu-yu Tseng is a speech researcher whose corpus work on Mandarin prosody supports speech synthesis and recognition. She earned a linguistics PhD at Brown University in 1981 and served as a postdoctoral research fellow at UC Santa Cruz from September 1981 to June 1982. From 1994 to 2005, she and her Phonetics Lab team designed, collected and annotated Sinica COSPRO; in 2006 she presented a hierarchical prosody model with acoustic templates for speech synthesis. She led ISCA's SIG-CSLP and convened Oriental-COCOSDA, received ELRA's Antonio Zampolli Prize in 2012, and became an ISCA Fellow in 2016; in November 2024, she moderated NTNU's Distinguished Lectures Series launch as a researcher from Academia Sinica.
