Peter J. Fleming

Peter J. Fleming is an emeritus professor at the University of Sheffield, and work he and colleagues published in 1993 brought Pareto optimality into evolutionary multiobjective optimisation. He became Professor of Industrial Systems and Control at Sheffield in 1991 and directed the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre in Control and Systems Engineering until 2012. In 2004 he co-wrote a paper on identifying the structure of nonlinear dynamic systems using multiobjective genetic programming. The Royal Academy of Engineering made him a fellow in 2005, the International Federation of Automatic Control elected him a Fellow in 2009, and the International Society on Multiple Criteria Decision Making gave him the Edgeworth-Pareto Award in 2015.
