Researcher

Emanuele Trucco

Also known as Manuel Trucco

Emanuele Trucco holds the NRP Chair of Computational Vision in Computing at the University of Dundee. His work on computer vision, the field that lets machines interpret images, spans 3-D vision, robotics and retinal image analysis. He earned a master's degree in electronic engineering at Genoa in 1984 and a PhD there in 1990. He worked at the Ispra research centre from 1984 to 1986, in Edinburgh's artificial intelligence department from 1988 to 1994, and at Heriot-Watt University until 2007. The International Association for Pattern Recognition named him a fellow in 2016, and the British Machine Vision Association gave him its Distinguished Fellow Award for 2020.
